Building a Legacy of Transformation: Transafam Power’s Incredible Journey

Since the official handover of the power plant in February 2020, Transafam Power has embarked on an extraordinary journey, positively impacting Nigeria's power sector.

Our history

From Afam Power Plant to Transafam Power Plc.

Transafam Power Plc (TAPP) is the core investor in Afam GenCo, comprising Afam Power Plc and Afam Three Fast Power Limited. The Afam GenCo Power Plant is located at Okoloma Village, in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, approximately 40 km north of Port Harcourt.

The Power Plant includes five separate power plants (Afam I – V) owned by Afam Power Plc (“APP”) and the brand new Afam Three Fast Power Plant owned by Afam Three Fast Power Limited (ATFPL). The total installed capacity of the plant is 966 MW. With the acquisition of Afam GenCo, Transcorp Group increased its installed capacity to nearly 2000 MW and continues to work toward recovering more of the installed capacity.

This acquisition also came with many advantages including closeness to gas supply, sufficient evaluation capacity and brand new 240 MW Afam Three Fast Power turbines. Our plan is to efficiently recover the capacity of the Afam GenCo, leveraging our experience with running Transcorp Power Limited.

Our values

Our values make us who we are and drive us towards a common sense of purpose; to create long lasting value for our customers.

EXECUTION

Getting things done, ownership & accountability. It is our burning desire to always see things to completion in a timely & efficient manner.

ENTERPRISE

Ingenuity, Determination & Hard work. We have the willingness and determination to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

EXCELLENCE

Quality, Distinction, Exceptionalism. We strive to deliver in an outstanding manner consistently.

OUR MISSION

Our goal is to produce 966 MW full installed capacity from formerly generating only 40 MW of power at takeover.

When Transcorp took ownership of the 1000 MW capacity plant in 2021, our mission was to take it from generating only 40 MW of power daily, back to producing at its full 966 MW installed capacity. The electricity produced by Transafam Power is transported through a network of conductors, to the national grid.

OUR PURPOSE

To be the best in generation of reliable, stable and high-quality electricity within the Nigerian domain.

Afam Power Plc, now Transafam Power Plc, is among the 18 electricity successor companies unbundled from Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in 2003. Owing to various changes in the Federal Government policies on the electricity industry from 1973 to 2009, Transcorp Power has on various occasions changed its name and outlook.

A Note from our CEO

Our 966 MW gas-fired plant plays a pivotal role in strengthening economic growth by providing a stable and reliable source of electricity, attracting industries and investments that create jobs and opportunities.

Our mission is to not only keep the lights on but to do so in a way that enhances the world we all share. With a focus on renewable energy, cutting-edge technology, and a dedicated team of professionals, we are at the forefront of the energy revolution.
